This 1-hour class provides participants with a good, all-around low-impact workout. Low-
impact aerobics combined with strengthening and stretching exercises give you a good basis
to help you gain stamina, build muscle, increase flexibility and improve balance. Taught by an
instructor certified to teach older adults, the class challenges you while also allowing for
modifications to improve and maintain your cardiovascular health and fitness.
The first part of the class takes place standing (and/or using a chair for balance), while the last
15 minutes include optional floor work, for core strength and flexibility. You are welcome to
participate in all or part of the class, depending on your needs.
Though the class is open to participants of all ages, seniors are strongly encouraged to join.
Silver Sneakers members may join for free. Participants may use body weight or bring hand
weights for the strength exercises. Please bring mats for the floor exercises.
About the instructor: Teresa Hernandez is certified in Silver Sneakers, Silver and Fit, Enhance
Fitness, the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program, and Spinning. She has been teaching group
fitness classes for 8 years. Her goal is to help people find the joy in creating and maintaining
healthy lifestyles.
